Project HPAC Workshops

Workshop 1: Camera and Microphone Basics

Understanding of white point balance
Framing
Different camera types

Goal: For students to produce a one minute postcard

Workshop 2: Interviewing and Questioning

Explain the ideas behind journalism
Preliminary interview questions
Practice interviewing

Goal: Film an interview

Workshop 3: Story Boarding and Shot Lists

Review Footage
Explain the ideas behind story boarding and drawing out ideas
List edits

Goal: Screen raw footage and come up with a story board and locations for filming

Workshop 4: Editing and Digitizing

Show how to digitize footage
Show how to Edit footage- Final cut pro

Goals: Start the editing process

Workshop 5: More Editing

Goal: Have enough footage for 2-3 interviews ready for graphics layout

Workshop 6: Graphics

Show how to add graphics to videos
Add credits at the end of videos

Goal: Add graphics to videos and finish the films


MEETING: Monday 10/12/09 @ HPAC

Students
Afterschool program
Recruited freshmen and juniors from King College and Kenwood
Participants get a monthly stipend
Project is student driven
Students meet: weekly Wednesday 3.30 – 500 pm

Term/Course
Fall video project
Video production, no more than 5 minutes in length

What is the video about?
Students interview teaching and visiting artists
Perspective: Visiting Artists from New Zealand arrive soon

What is to learn on the way?
(Students don’t have video skills at all)

Students design interview questions
Students facilitate the interview
Filming (skill building)
Editing (learn final cut pro) how to

What will happen with the video?
Presentation in a culminating event
Ideally in Fun For All

Create/start files with at least 2 artist interviews

The Goal: open to interpretation


We will get: questions and outline from Ray
We will need: sets of camera and tools (also SAIC)
